On June 18, 2009, LCROSS -- the companion mission to Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) -- was launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
On October 9, 2009, LCROSS's preliminary data indicates that the mission is successful in uncovering the water in permanently shadowed lunar crater. According to NASA, this new discovery opens the new chapter in our understanding of the moon. Now, we have to wait and see what happens next after the scientists analyze more on the data captured by LCROSS.
At the same time, Google -- the most known engine -- also celebrates this achievement by changing the logo in their home page. Here it is:
